Veteran's Day Parade and Ceremony

Downtown Fairfield, Texas Street Map - Dining

Schedule of Events TBD:

10:00 a.m.
A concert of patriotic-themed music with a Remembrance Ceremony at the Creative Arts Center.

12:30 p.m.
Parade Starts in Downtown Fairfield on Webster Street at Kentucky Street

The day will begin at Fairfield Center for Creative Arts (1035 Texas Street) with a 10:00 a.m. concert of patriotic-themed music. A Ceremony of Remembrance will immediately follow the concert.

At 12:30 p.m. the Veterans Day Parade will begin. The parade will assemble on Webster Street at Kentucky Street. The route will proceed west on Kentucky Street to Taylor Street, where it will turn south. It will turn east on Texas Street, travel through downtown, and turn north again on Washington Street, disbanding between Kentucky and Webster Streets. The reviewing stand and dignitary seating will be placed on Texas Street at Madison Street.

The entry fee for the parade is $35, and is waived for veterans and military organizations. Entry forms are available here on the Fairfield Downtown Association website, or by calling the Fairfield Downtown Association office at 707-422-0103. First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded in over thirty categories, with trophies awarded for Best Use of Theme and Grand Sweepstakes. All entries will receive a certificate of participation.

Sponsors for the 2009 Veterans Day Commemoration are American Legion – Reams Post 182, the National Association of Uniformed Services Pacific Gateway Chapter #4, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Fairfield Downtown Association, the Fairfield Redevelopment Agency, Bryan Braker Funeral Home, Solano Garbage, Harry’s Sportsmans Lounge, Anheuser Busch, City of Suisun City, Travis Credit Union, Sheldon Gas Company, and many generous community donors.

Volunteers are needed to help staff the barricades that form the parade route, and to act as hosts at the reviewing stand. Contact 707-422-0103 for information about volunteer opportunities at this and other Fairfield Downtown Association events.
