Fairfield Certified Farmers Market Open at New County Building!

The Fairfield Certified Farmers Market, sponsored by the Fairfield Downtown Association will open its 2005 season in a new location- the Solano County Government Center Plaza- on Thursday, May 5th from 4 to 8pm. Farmers and food vendors will set up their booths in Jefferson Street south of Texas Street, with the entertainment and children's activities on the Plaza itself.

Monica Zuniga Martin will bring her dance students, Grupo Taconaso, to open the season and remember Cinco de Mayo. These dancers, ranging in age from five to sixteen years old, dress in traditional Mexican attire and perform a variety of time-honored Latino dances.

Free musical entertainment is scheduled for each week, including local talent from Danc-Sing Stars Studio, Brantley's Karate for Kids program, PACE and Laurel Creek Elementary School.

Free children's arts and crafts projects will be offered each week from 5pm until 7pm. Crafts projects include kites, seeds planted in decorated pots, pinwheels, mosaics and more. The projects are designed to appeal to kids of all ages, and parents are invited to do the projects with their children.

To date, the following vendors are scheduled to participate in the market this year: Cha's Farm, Erickson Farms from Suisun Valley, Gold Rush Kettle Korn, Kia Thao, J & J Farms, La Perla de Jalisco, Lone Oak Organic Ranches, Lujan Farms, Meyers Fine Foods & BBQ, Michael's Franks, Ochoa's Flowers, Quick-N-Ezee Indian Foods, Rodriguez Farm, Salami Lady, Spring Hill Jersey Cheese, Triple Delight Blueberries, Vang Vegetable Farm and Xiong Produce.
