    Subject: Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

The Fairfield Downtown Association will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting and the arrival of Santa Claus on Friday, December 6, 2002, from 6:00 to 8:30pm. Festivities will take place in a variety of locations on Texas Street downtown, between Jefferson Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Our 40- foot Community Christmas Tree will stand at the corner of Madison Street and Texas Street. The tree is being delivered by Mr. John Carlton on November 27th, and will be decorated by Fairfield Downtown Association members with help from Fairfield Public Works crews.

Santa Claus will arrive on a Fairfield Fire Truck, and will take gift requests from children at Barbís Deli. Local Boy Scouts will offer photos with Santa for $2 each. Photos will be free with a donation of a non-perishable food item. Look for merchant open houses and our ìHoliday Walk Aboutî contest with a terrific grand prize.

The following local groups have agreed to provide entertainment to guests at the event: Angelo Rodriguez High School, B.Gale Wilson School, Bransford School, Danc-Sing Stars Studio, Dover Middle School Band, Fairfield High School, Harbor Theatre Group, Laurel Creek School, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Napa-Solano Girl Scouts, Nor Cal Concert Girls Chorus, Solano Choral Society, Solano Winds, Sullivan Middle School, Word of Faith Christian Center and more!

New to this year's event are collectible lapel pins and sweatshirts featuring the fanciful Holiday Night of Lights logo. Shirts are available in children's sizes at $12 and adult sizes at $20. They are heavy weight shirts very generous in size. Lapel pins are $3. All the logo merchandise is available now by calling 422-0103 or at the FDA office- 1000 Texas Street across the parking lot from Pietroís.

Bring the family to Downtown Fairfield and visit one of our fine restaurants for dinner or a hot beverage. Enjoy hot cocoa and treats served by stores while they showcase their holiday merchandise and décor. Take a ride through downtown on a horse drawn carriage from Buzzard's Roost Ranch. Rides are free, but a donation of a non-perishable food item is requested.

Entries for our second annual Holiday Light Parade are invited. Entries should be decorated in a holiday theme, and be at least 50% covered in lights. There is NO entry fee, cash prizes will be awarded for the three best floats as judged by the Fairfield City Council.

Local non-profit groups are cheerfully invited to participate as volunteers for the event. This is a terrific way for your student to earn those Community Service hours.

Corporate sponsors for this yearís event include the City of Fairfield, R & D Bodyworx, the Daily Republic and Solano Garbage. Call the Fairfield Downtown Association at 422-0103 for more information.
