Are Your Clients Feeling Stuck?

Your clients may not be aware of what is in the way of getting what they are wanting.

Did you know as much as 95% of all behaviors is controlled by the subconscious mind? Many beliefs about our selves, and the world are stored in the subconscious mind. Beliefs like I’m not smart, pretty or loveable formed when we were children have paved the path we walk on as adults. Beliefs are the foundation of our personality. These beliefs affect our moods, relationships, self-esteem and health. Our clients are often unaware of subconscious beliefs. We can experience clients as difficult because they come into therapy knowing what they don’t want. They often don’t know what they do want or how to get there. Even worse, they may be acting out beliefs they aren’t even aware of.

Feeling Good, a best selling book by David Burns, MD, uses cognitive therapy to challenge conscious beliefs. Cognitive therapy has proven to be very useful. Can you imagine how much more effective and transformative cognitive therapy would be if subconscious beliefs were identified and changed.

Developed by Rob Williams in 1988, PSYCH-K is a powerful tool that identifies sabotaging beliefs and replaces them with beliefs that support our client’s goals. I refer to PSYCH-K as cognitive therapy for the subconscious mind. The processes are based on Brain Dominance Theory. Increasing “cross-talk” between the 2 brain hemispheres is ideal for changing subconscious beliefs. PSYCH-K techniques enable clients to achieve this unique state through simple physiological processes. Muscle testing (kinesiology) is used to communicate with the subconscious mind to verify the changes made.

I have used PSYCH-K with clients with successful relief for grief, depression, anxiety, phobias, OCD, habits, relationship problems, and self-esteem and health issues. After only 3 sessions with my client, I will call Jake; he said he felt like a cloud had lifted from him.
Jake came to see me because he was feeling depressed. He was lethargic, gained 15 lbs and was sleeping and crying more often. His mother died when he was a young boy. One of his siblings recently died. Jake is 45 years old, with a family of his own. Of course, I thought he was experiencing grief from his losses. As I further explored what was going on, I found out that what was really bothering my client was the rejection and anger he was feeling from an older sibling. This sibling had been hurtful to him since the loss of their mother. We spent the first session getting clear about what was causing his depression. The following session, I talked with Jake about the importance of forgiveness in the healing process. He asked if that included forgiving himself. I said let’s see. We used muscle testing for the belief, “I fully and freely forgive myself. The muscle tested weak which means there is interference in the subconscious with this desired belief. We proceeded to do two PSYCH-K energy balances before the muscle test (which is used as a bio feedback tool) tested strong, or yes to the desired belief. Interestingly, my client commented that the chronic pain he had been experiencing in his back for the past year was now gone. The subsequent sessions we continued using PSYCH-K to strengthen beliefs about forgiving his sister for the harm she caused him. My client is experiencing a sense of relief after doing this quick and easy process and is excited about using PSYCH-K for other issues that are of concern.

An exciting part of using PSYCH-K for me is its adaptability with any other model of therapy including EMDR, art therapy, Jungian, object relations, cognitive-behavioral, etc. It also works well with children because it is more doing that talking.

I have equated PSYCH-K to the field of psychology as Quantum Physics is to the field of science.

Cellular biologist and Stanford University researcher Bruce Lipton, explains in his book Biology of Belief, how his research on cells provided insight into how the body’s mind-body pathways work. He concludes it is beliefs that control biology. Dr. Lipton presented along with Rob Williams, the originator of PSYCH-K. Dr. Lipton exclaims in his book that he has seen people rapidly improve their self-esteem and change their relationships, their finances, and their health using PSYCH-K.

If you would like to deepen your understanding about how:
* The subconscious mind drives behaviors and moods
* Muscle testing (kinesiology) is used to communicate with the subconscious mind
* To use left brain/right brain integration techniques to effect lasting changes.
