Injury and Illness Prevention Plans

As part of an organization's requirement to provide a safe and healthful workplace, state OSHA agencies, such as Cal/OSHA, require the development of an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) to provide the foundation for worker safety and health.

Employers are required to develop formal, written injury and illness prevention plans tailored to work site safety and health hazards. This plan must document safety rules and guidelines, procedures for reporting and investigating injuries, training programs, and proper reporting procedures to regulatory agencies, such as Cal-OSHA.

An important part of an organization's strategic plan should be to change workplace culture to involve an increasing number of employees to effectively manage safety and health, in order to continue the decline in workplace injuries and illnesses. Through consultation with Aanko Technologies, organizations are becoming proactive in preventing injuries and illnesses. This is accomplished through an initial, comprehensive assessment of the workplace, followed by one or more return visits to develop or improve elements of the employer's injury and illness prevention program.

Increased emphasis on safety and health continues to play a major role in the reduction of both the number and frequency of work-related claims. Reductions that play a major role in minimizing corporate loss and directly impacting both the bottom line and work productivity through safer work processes.
